What our students said about San Jose
Prices are the same or a little higher than in Japan. However, there are very few Japanese people in Costa Rica, so if you want to go to a place where you only speak Spanish in class and English when talking with friends, I recommend you to go to Costa Rica. Also, I think the charm of Costa Rica is that you can enjoy both the mountains and the ocean and you can encounter a lot of animals.
The school is actually in the suburb of ‘Coronado’; during the day you always have the feeling of being safe. At night, however, you prefer to cross the street when you see some people (just like in the side streets of every major railway station after 11 pm). Apart from that, the streets are very clean and people take care of them.
Coronado itself is not that beautiful, not a place where I would like spend my holidays. But as I was there for the school and to study Spanish it was great! In Coronado you find everything and there is every 10 minutes a bus to San José.
I lived in Coronado, about 35 minutes by bus to San José, where I was only twice. The city was too noisy for me and offers very few attractions. But I am also more of a nature lover.
Actually, the school and the family are located in Coronado, a quiet city and not as big as San Jose. But it was easy to get to San José, anyway.
Many interesting places to visit, such as the Jade and National museums. Very nice restaurants to eat in and stores for shopping.
A little dangerous and not the best/beautiful to visit but the school and family are awesome!!

Because there were so few students (at least at my level), I had 2/3 weeks of private lessons at no extra cost :)
