Why Viña del Mar? Viña del Mar is a coastal resort city northwest of Santiago, Chile. It has earned itself the nickname of Ciudad Jardín (Garden City). thanks to its many manicured boulevards, palm trees lined streets, stately palaces, a huge public beach and beautiful parks. Its official name however translates from Spanish and means 'Vineyard by the Sea'. Taking a short walk along its streets you'll be taken back to last century’s golden age with numerous castles and old mansions dotted around the city that are now elegant museums or recreation centres open to visitors.
